POST TYPE · TAKE A POSITION
What you think about a question in your field, and why. The post that makes people remember who you are — and the one most brands water down.
THE SHORT ANSWER
Line 1 is the position in one sentence, no hedging. Then two or three reasons, a short paragraph each. Then the strongest objection and your honest answer to it. End by inviting disagreement. No sources needed — it is your view.
The position
One sentence. No “I think maybe”.
The reasons
Two or three, each two plain sentences.
The objection
The strongest one, answered honestly.
The invitation
Ask who disagrees, and why.
Copy it and fill in the brackets.
[Your position, one sentence.] Why: [reason one]. [Reason two]. The pushback I hear most: [objection]. My answer: [answer]. Disagree? Tell me why.
EXAMPLE — written for a made-up consultant.
Most small businesses should stop writing a yearly marketing plan. Why: by March, half of it is out of date and nobody looks at it. A one-page plan for the next 90 days gets read, changed and done. The pushback I hear most: “then how do we think long term?” Keep a one-line goal for the year. Plan only the next 90 days toward it. Disagree? Tell me why.
