One caption, eight channels. Does it fit?

Paste a post and see, for LinkedIn, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Threads and Bluesky: the count against each limit, what a reader sees before “more”, and whether your sign-off still fits. Free, no sign-up.

Everything is counted in your browser — nothing you type is sent anywhere. The sign-off is added after a blank line, the way it is published, so it counts toward every limit.

The limits, channel by channel.

ChannelLimitHow it counts
LinkedIn3,0003,000 characters a post. Roughly the first 140 show on a phone (about 210 on a desk) before “…see more”.
X280280, weighted: every link counts as 23, Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters and emoji count as 2. Premium accounts can write up to 25,000.
Instagram2,2002,200 characters. About the first 125 show before “more”. Since December 2025, at most 5 hashtags a post or Reel (it was 30).
TikTok2,2004,000 characters in the app; 2,200 when a scheduling tool posts it through TikTok's posting API.
YouTube5,000Description 5,000 characters; title 100.
Facebook63,20663,206 characters — long posts fold behind “See more”; sources disagree on where.
Threads500500 characters; an emoji counts as its UTF-8 bytes (most are 4). At most 5 links a post. Longer text can go in an optional attachment.
Bluesky300300 characters as you see them (graphemes) — an emoji counts as one.

Where “more” cuts in depends on the screen and the app version; the checker shows a typical point, not an exact one.

WITH PAPERFLIGHT

Every channel gets its own version, already inside the limit.

PaperFlight's Writer checks every draft against these limits — your sign-off included — and writes a shorter caption for any channel it would not fit. You see each channel's version before it goes out, or let your AI CMO publish on its own.

Questions people ask.

What is the character limit on LinkedIn?
3,000 characters for a post. Only the first lines show before “…see more” — roughly 140 characters on a phone — so put the point in the first line.
How does X count characters?
Up to 280 for a standard account, weighted: every link counts as 23 whatever its length, and Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters and emoji count as 2. Premium subscribers can post up to 25,000.
How many hashtags can I use on Instagram?
Five per post or Reel since December 2025 (it used to be 30). The caption itself can be 2,200 characters.
Why does my TikTok caption get cut when I schedule it?
The TikTok app takes 4,000 characters, but tools that post for you go through TikTok's posting API, which takes 2,200.
Does my sign-off count toward the limit?
Yes — whatever you add at the end of every post is part of the caption. Put it in the sign-off box and the checker counts it for every channel.
Is anything I type stored?
No. The checker runs in your browser; nothing is sent to us.
