Terms of service
These terms are an agreement between you and Arthiq Tech Pte Ltd, of 68 Circular Road #02, Singapore 049422. By creating an account you accept them.
1. What Paperflight is
You upload a bank statement — the PDF your bank emails you, or a CSV transaction export. We read it and show you analytics: what you spent, at which merchants, in which categories, by month and by year. Scanned (image-only) PDF statements are not yet supported.
2. What Paperflight is not
- It is not connected to your bank. No aggregator, no open banking, no ability to read your balance, see a transaction you have not uploaded, or move money.
- It is not a bank, a payment service or a money transmitter. We hold no funds.
- It is not an accountant or a tax preparer. It produces figures. It does not file, certify or sign anything.
- It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
- It is not a record of authority. Your bank’s statement is the authoritative record. Ours is a reading of it.
- It is not a backup service. Export your data. Do not rely on us as the only copy of anything.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract where you live. The account is for your own financial data, or for a business you are authorised to act for.
4. Your account and signing in
Your account is identified by your phone number. There is no password. Your phone number is your key, so keep control of it and of the WhatsApp account attached to it, and tell us at support@paperflight.app straight away if you lose the number or think someone else has reached your account.
Anyone who can receive your one-time codes can reach your account. Set a SIM PIN with your carrier and turn on two-step verification in WhatsApp. That is the single most useful thing you can do to protect your data here.
5. The files you upload
You keep ownership of everything you upload and everything we derive from it. You give us a limited licence to store, process and display that data — only to run the service for you, and only while you have an account. Uploaded statement files are stored encrypted; you can download the original or delete it (with or without its extracted transactions) at any time from the Statements page. We do not sell your data and we do not train models on it.
By uploading a file you confirm it is your own statement or that you are authorised to upload it. If you upload someone else’s financial data, that is your call to make and your responsibility.
6. Acceptable use
Do not upload files you have no right to upload; try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service; use it to launder money, evade tax or conceal a crime; resell it without a written agreement; scrape it; upload malware or files crafted to attack our parser; or misrepresent our output as certified, audited or bank-issued.
Security researchers: tell us at security@paperflight.app before you tell anyone else. We will not pursue good-faith research.
7. Free tier and subscription
Free tier. One account and one import per calendar month, no card required. It covers parsing, merchant clean-up, categories and your grouped lists. The personal/business split, charts and AI features are part of the paid plan. There is no trial clock and no card on file to forget about.
Subscription. There are two ways to pay, both in USD through Stripe: $5 per month, or $50 per year. Either renews until you cancel, and cancelling stops the next charge while leaving you full access to the end of the period you have already paid for.
Price changes. At least 30 days before a new price applies to you. Cancel before then and you will never be charged it. We will not raise the price of a period you have already paid for.
8. Accuracy: read this one properly
Parsing is automated, and it can be wrong.
We read your file with software. Banks change their export formats without warning, column names differ between institutions, and merchant names on statements are often abbreviated or cryptic. Any of these can produce a wrong result.
Paperflight can misread a number, including a decimal point or a minus sign; miss a transaction or import one twice; read a date, currency or exchange amount incorrectly; assign the wrong merchant or category; get a refund, reversal or instalment wrong; or fail entirely on a layout it has not seen.
So do not rely on Paperflight for any tax, legal, accounting or financial decision without checking the figures against your own bank statement. If you are filing a return, claiming a deduction, or presenting figures to an accountant, a lender or a regulator — check against the statement your bank issued. Your bank’s statement wins.
The original raw bank text is shown beneath our resolved name on every transaction precisely so you can check our reading against what your bank actually printed. Tell us at support@paperflight.app when you find a parsing error; fixing them is how this improves.
9. Not financial advice
Charts, totals, trends and any suggestion the app makes are descriptions of data you gave us, not recommendations. We are not your financial adviser and are not licensed to be one. Talk to a qualified professional before making a financial decision.
10. AI features and connected agents
Some features are automated or AI-assisted: merchant names are cleaned up and categories suggested by software, the in-app assistant answers questions by computing over your imported rows, and on a paid plan you can connect an external AI agent of your choice through our MCP interface.
AI output can be wrong, and it is not advice. Suggested names, categories, answers and anything a connected agent tells you are generated automatically from your data. They can be incomplete, out of date or simply incorrect, and everything in sections 8 and 9 applies to them in full: check against your bank’s own statement before relying on any figure, and treat nothing here as financial, tax, legal or investment advice. A correction you make by hand always outranks an automated suggestion, and neither our software nor a connected agent can overwrite it. AI chat on the paid plan includes 500 messages per calendar month; unused messages do not carry over.
Connected agents act on your authority. When you connect an agent, you choose exactly what it may see and do, scope by scope, on the consent screen, and you can narrow or disconnect it at any time from My profile. What that agent does with data it reads — including what its operator stores or how it generates answers — is governed by your agreement with the agent’s operator, not by these terms. We are not responsible for a connected agent’s outputs, actions or availability; on our side, every change an agent makes is labelled as the agent’s in the audit trail, agents can never move money, and they can never change amounts.
11. Intellectual property
We own the software, interface, design, parsing logic, category taxonomy, name and logo. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the service while your account is open. Feedback you send us we may use freely — that covers your suggestions, not your data.
12. Your data stays yours
Your statements and everything derived from them belong to you. Our rights over that data exist only to run the service for you and end when your account does. Your original statement files are downloadable at any time, a copy of everything we hold is yours on request at support@paperflight.app, and nothing you imported is ever deleted or hidden while your account exists.
13. Ending the agreement
You can stop using the service at any time. Self-service account deletion is not built yet — email support@paperflight.app and we will delete your data. No phone call, no retention offer.
We can end it if you break these terms, if your use puts the service at risk, or if we are legally required to. For a breach we will normally give 72 hours notice and a chance to export your data.
If we shut the service down, we will give at least 90 days notice, keep export working throughout, and refund any prepaid time you have not used.
14. Warranties
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, it is provided “as is”: we do not warrant that parsing will be accurate or complete, that every statement format is supported, or that the service will be uninterrupted.
Nothing here excludes a right the law does not let us exclude — including under Singapore’s Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act, India’s Consumer Protection Act 2019, and US state law.
15. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, or lost savings; nor for tax penalties, fines, missed deductions, rejected claims or bad decisions arising from relying on our output without checking it against your bank statement; nor for loss of data you could have downloaded and did not.
Our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the preceding twelve months, or US$100.
This does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for our own breach of data protection law, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Talk to us first — email support@paperflight.app with what went wrong and what you want done, and give us 30 days to respond. Most disputes end there.
Nothing here stops you bringing a claim in a small-claims or consumer tribunal where your local law gives you that right.
17. Changes to these terms
For a material change — price, liability, how we use your data — we will tell you at least 14 days before it takes effect and say what changed. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept it.
