POST TYPE · TEACH
Name a belief your customers really hold, set the record straight in one line, and show them how to check it for themselves.
THE SHORT ANSWER
Line 1 is the myth, written the way people actually say it. Line 2 is the fact, one sentence. Then two lines on why the myth survives, and how the reader can check the truth themselves. It works because it gives people something to tell others.
Myth
The belief as people actually say it — not a straw man.
Fact
What is true, in one sentence.
Why the myth survives
Two lines: where it came from, why it sounds right.
How to check
Something the reader can do to see it for themselves.
Copy it and fill in the brackets.
Myth: [the belief, in people's words]. Fact: [what is true, one sentence]. Why the myth sticks around: [two lines]. Check it yourself: [how].
EXAMPLE — written for a made-up dental practice.
Myth: if your gums bleed, brush more gently or stop flossing. Fact: bleeding gums usually mean they need more cleaning, not less. Why the myth sticks around: it feels like you are hurting them. Usually it is the plaque left behind that is. Check it yourself: floss gently every day for two weeks. If the bleeding has not eased, book a check-up.
